I played some of his citterns a few years ago and they are very fine instruments soundwise and visually. In fact they're so good they look like they could have been made in Australia! The NZ dollar is down at the moment too. I think Tony McManus might play a Stuart guitar and they are highly regarded.
I have had an OB Cittern of his since September and I love it. Check the link of a bouzouki cittern afternoon it's one thing that helped me decide as well as a recommendation from Dow. You won't be sorry. Mark http://www.xs4all.nl/~hspeek/bouzouki/session.html
Davy makes a great instrument. I had a mandola he made for me several years ago and it was an excellent instrument. I have seen several of his zouks and like them all. Depending on where you are and what the exchange rate is, the price can be very good.
My husband has a Davy zouk and mandolin and both are lovely instruments. They have great tone and are very responsive. They are beautifully crafted pieces. The zouk is LOUD. I have a Davy bodhran, which is my current favourite. I prefer it to my Seamus O'Kane at the moment.
Sounds like the concencius is that Stuart makes a great zouk! I believe I will order one. The waiting list is long, but hopefully the current exchange rate will hold in my favor 9 months from now.
Thanks for the link to comparisons Mark...I was shocked to see the alterations someone did to that Sobell!
Vincent Fogarty in Asheville, NC (USA), plays a Foley and I LOVE that sound...Foleys are hard to find it seems.
They are great!
I've got Gibsons, Fyldes and an SOS - his instruments are up there with the best!
I have a 10 string Davey Stuart that may be available imeadiatley
speak to Davey at : davy@stuart.co.nz - (it's complicated) I have the instrument but it's not mine - I'm holding it for Davey for the time being.
Tell him Bev lawton sent you!

What does anyone know about Davy Stuart bouzouki's and cittern's? How do they sound? Quality, etc.? They seem like a great deal.
Thanks! Goodin

Re: Davy Stuart Zouks
I've played his instruments and the quality/tone have been fantastic. Especially his mandolins/Octave mandolins.

I have a Davy Stuart zouk that I like a lot. It's a top notch instrument. I got it used, which made it an even better deal.
