I was surfing on previous discussions and I just came across an interesting thread called "More Info in member's profiles".
I also think it'd be great to know where "the sesioneers" are from and what instrument they play, among other things. People who don't mind giving that information should be given a chance of doing so.
Jeremy, I know you're putting a lot of your precious time in this wonderful site, but if you could provide the members a way of sharing (always voluntary) this information many of us would appreciate it very much.
Another suggestion: it's sometimes hard to follow 'old' threads as they appear listed by creation date. Is there any way of showing the threads by modification time ???
This way we could check easily if there's any update to an old thread.
Adding more info to the member profiles is a good idea. But it won't be easy to implement so it isn't going to happen any time soon. I'll put it in my list of "things to do".
As for viewing the discussions by modification date: that's why I added the "new" tab to the front page of the Discussions section:
I'm not sure how hard this would be, but it would also be great if the new postings showed the titles of the discussions or tunes where they originated.
In the spirit of Toni Ribas's suggestion, it has occurred to me that a tab called "New" in the members section might be a nice way for folks to stay abreast of new sessioneers, i.e. a tab similar to the way recently posted tunes are handled that gives quick update of who's signed up and, ideally, their "hello my name is" blurb.
That's great, Jeremy. This is a worldwide site you're running, and it's good to find people in your own area who are into this music.
So here's an outreach. Hiya, alanmmcgregor, if you're there, if you're ever near Broughty Ferry on a Thursday night, check our session out, 9.30 onwards, The Fishermans Inn.
And that goes for anyone else who finds themselves in Scotland looking for a completely open session, mostly a mixture of Irish and Scottish, but we're open minded.
hey Jeremy -- how hard would it be to make links published on the list target to a new browser window? That'd be a helpful thing, rather than having to go back to The Session...at least to me!
If you're on a Mac hold down the apple key as you click the link. If you're on a PC, click on the link with the right mouse button and choose "open link in a new window".

As for viewing the discussions by modification date: that's why I added the "new" tab to the front page of the Discussions section:
http://www.thesession.org/discussions/index.php/new
This shows the newest ten postings. Do you think perhaps it should be more? 15 perhaps?
Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Enhancement suggestions to The Session
15 postings would be good.
I'm not sure how hard this would be, but it would also be great if the new postings showed the titles of the discussions or tunes where they originated.
Thanks,

I second the suggestion that the 'new' tab have titles of the discussions!'
Thanks for pointing out the tab. . .I hadn't noticed it was there.

Re: Enhancement suggestions to The Session
When I click the 'new' tab, I still get only 3 listings... Am I the only one?

Scotty, you're looking at the front page of the site, not the front page of the "Dicsussions" section.

Just a thought.

Good suggestion, Brendan. When I do finally get around to implementing the extra info in member's profiles, I'll add the "new" tab at the same time.

Re: Enhancement suggestions to The Session
Sorry Jeremy, you're absolutely right.
I didn't realise that the "New" tab on discussions front page is exactly what I was asking for.
I also agree with Brendan's and Jdharv's suggestions.
