e-mailing people through this site

e-mailing people through this site

Just a reminder everyone, don't forget to sign your e-mails with your user name, because otherwise there is no indication at all as to who has sent the e-mail and there is no way to respond. (It is a natural mistake to make.) This has happened to me a few times already, and I'm sure I am not the only one.

I just got an e-mail from a fiddler outside of the Phila. area--I would love to respond to you personally so please send me out another one and sign it with your user name, Ok? I look foreward to hearing from you again!

Re: e-mailing people through this site

???? Surely you just have to click the link at the bottom of the e-mail and it takes you to that person's profile. That's what I've always done anyhow...

Re: e-mailing people through this site

I just figured that out, Dow--only for me it wasn't a direct link, I had to type in the whole thing. Sorry--you can go ahead and delete this discussion, Jeremy.

I feel stupid now.

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Ach, you're still disorientated from your holiday in Cornwall, Andee. That's all!

Stupid? not as stupid as ....

.... emailing Jeremy and asking him how I could get a "send an email" link put on my profile page, since every body seemed to have one but me ....

... just shoot me now!

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Haven't signed on in several days. Sorry, Andee, guess you're referring to me?? Took me awhile to even figure out how to email someone from this sight (Jeremy knows that).
But, hope to see you in PA!

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Not quite as bad as an English judge hearing a criminal case, interrupting proceedings to ask, (my learned friend), "What is an internet?"

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Oh, no Collen--was referring to someone else--and it was me who was being dense and could not figure out the technology at first!!

Re: e-mailing people through this site

A judge would know perfectly well what "internet" means, but with new technology he might very well ask for an explanation so that everybody present in court understands, and also that it is properly explained for the record in case anyone reads up the case in 50 years time. It is for exactly this reason that a judge may ask "who is Frank Sinatra?", for example. Some judges also have a devious sense of humour.

Re: e-mailing people through this site

Danny, Trevor - the bit about the judge was reported in the Mail (can't remember the date) - but it is "the press" after all, so the Lunchtime O'Booze journalist would have slanted his reporting in favour of the readership..............at least he spelled "internet" correctly....more than I can say for the Guardian on a good day!!!
