I have to put together a few paragraphs about London banjo player Mick O'Connor.I have a bit of info on the Paddy Carty LP from the 70s, and the Mick Mulcahy recording that Mick played on from the early 90s. Any help would be much appreciated.
For Aussie folk, Mick will be at Turning Wave in Gundagai in September, along with fiddler Anton MacGabhann.
"I'm told also that his nick-name is 'The Late Mick O'Connor' ....... something to do with punctuality, I believe."
I was fortunate enough to have him play with me and a couple of others at my sister's wedding (thanks to a certain Scouser with the gift of the gab). His arrival could not accurately be described as 'early'.
But, for all his musical reputation, he still had the humility to accept a small, private gig where nobody knows or cares who he is (the majority of the guests were Jewish and didn't know a highland from a fling).

I saw Mick last night and mentioned this thread. He suggested that you contact him directly and just ask! And also mentioned the bio on the website already referred to above.
You could also mention his penchant for cadging lifts - he doesn't drive - but we decided that hitching a lift with Qantas could be quite tricky!

I'm told also that his nick-name is 'The Late Mick O'Connor' ....... something to do with punctuality, I believe.
