help wanted-- mando refret, BC or NW WA area

I need to get my mando re-fretted. It's a gibson f-9. If anybody on here in the NW Washington state or Vancouver area has had this done, I would love to hear from you-- where? How much? What materials?

Re-fretting a mando shouldn't be any more complicated than a guitar, so speak to all the guitarists you know, and get the best recommendations from them. Any competent luthier should be able to do it, although obviously you want the best.
Your luthier should have all the materials.
PS Are you a heavy fretter/plucker? Not heard of many mandos needing re-frets ( maybe I've never asked ).

Surely they didn't fail to answer the question at
www.mandolincafe.com ?

You can contact Ken Cartwright in OR
http://www.wvi.com/~dnielson/staytonbusiness/Cartwright.htm

Keep in mind that in many cases there can be less extensive/expensive methods of fret treatment. In mild cases, the bad frets can be filed and re-crowend. In other cases you can be ok with replacing only the first 5 or 7 frets. Since most Irish traditional players do not play much up the neck, chances are that you do not need a full re-fret which can run a few hundred $.

Tom-- yes, they sort of did answer my mandocafe question. Avi, thanks a lot, will do. The mando really only needs the first 7 re-done.
