Yes folks, it's a sad day indeed. I never even got up there. It's a good 2.5 hour or so drive, a little much to go get wings at an Irish-themed Hooters. [shrug]

And right before St. Paddy's Day? Can this be right? Faithful O'Boobigan's disciple Sean Daly (and coauthor of this seminal treatise on the relative merits of O'Boobigan's and nearby fellow boobiesandbeerbar, Tilted Kilt) reports that news of the closure is flitting through Facebook faster than that loathsome 25 Things No One Ever Wanted to Know About Me thing. Turns out, O'Boobers was sagging for a while and no amount of underwire or space-age, cross-your-heart technology could lift things up. In its place and under new ownership, Lucky's Irish Bar & Grill has just opened at 6250 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, (727) 535-6130.

As long as it's cool to bring up the contrast between Bob Dylan's adopted singing style/persona and his origins, let us consider John Fogerty's Berkeley, California origins. I like the guy myself. If he can be what he wants to be, then I can be what I want to be too. Sorry to hear of the loss of another boob bar -- I guess? Were you looking for commiseration here, or what? Maybe the new place will welcome a session.
Thanks for keeping us abreast of the situation, SWFL. A truly sad day for all of us who enjoy pointlessly tacky Irish bars and twirling shamrock pasties.
'twirling shamrock pasties'...now that is an image to behold.
This was a sad St. PAtty's- first with the untimely demise of the South Side Irish Parade here in Chicago and now this.
I know the brain trust of the SS Irish Parade is entertaining more family oriented activities to replace the parade. Perhaps we can spin something off that image that they will find appropriate to incorporate into the replacement activity for the parade.
As much as I hated the parade, it did bring great celebrity to our little burg here on the south side....
....what a great image...twirling shamrock pasties... In reflective tinsel with glitter I hope!
When the poor tired child, passion, falls asleep
On the lone border of the lake once more:
Turning, he saw that she had thrust dead leaves
Gathered in silence, dewy as her eyes,
In bosom (i.e., boobies!!!) and hair.
"Ah, do not mourn," he said,
"That we are tired, for other loves await us;
Hate on and love through unrepining hours.
Before us lies eternity; our souls
Are love, and a continual farewell."
from "Ephemera"

You're all good folks in helping mark this most bold marketing angle's passing. Perhaps someone will pick up the threads where this great endeavor left off.

I'll have to post a clip of me fiddlin' it at some point. I'm just a little shook up now. It's terrible. I'm heartbroken, cross your heart bra-oken.

Clearwater? Is that where Creedence Clearwater Revival came from?
Not that I remember listening to their stuff...
