Sliabh Luachra bowing

Sliabh Luachra bowing

I play the fiddle and decided to focus for the time being on the Sliabh Luachra style. I am listening and watching to the players of the style. Any other suggestions or info? Thanks.

On the 2nd part of this show, Caoimhin O Raghaliaigh goes into a great talk and display of the bowing you are looking for.

Well there is a book by David Lyth; bowing styles in ITM , no 2 which has transcriptions of Padraig O'Keefe, J Clifford and D Murphy .

Of course the best way IMO is to go to Cork/Kerry and stay a few years. Immerse yourself in the sessions and craic. Book learning will only get you so far, CDs will only help so much. Try hooking up with a SL stylist where you are ? If you cant stay a few years try a few months!

Thanks for the info. Of course, I would love to go to Kerry for a few years. Maybe someday...Unfortunately, there are very few SL players around here, but a local piper has something of the style.
