Hello,
I have trying to record myself on audacity, but there is a loud bass sound coming through when I am recording. I can't work out what this is, but think it may be the sound of the laptop's battery - I don't have the same problem with using audacity on my PC at work.
Does anyone have any ideas about this noise, and about how to eradicate it?
... or perhaps click on the volume control tab on the bottom right corner of your computer and turn off Windows sounds and anything else that you're not needing while you are recording.
Sounds like an earth loop problem or an induced earth buzz from a mic or mic cable getting too near an electric cable/source.
Try moving cables and equipment apart.
if you have two or more electrical items connected together you
sometimes get an "earth loop" - disconnect one of the earths - MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE ONE ITEM STILL EARTHED!!!!
or you can use a DI Box that has an Earth Lift device/switch(just disconnects the earth connection to remove earth loop hums.)

Re: Buzzing/Bass sound on audacity
If you have an external mic that you can move away from the computer that should help.

Try an earthed wall socket. That did it for me.
