The first line of letters more or less reads the first notes of "El Condor Pasa", a South American tune put to a song by Simon and Garfunkel around 1970. It's bound to be performed by someone on YouTube.
It's The Conor Pass, between Dingle and Castlegregory, Co. Kerry. The tune was picked up by Spanish fishermen on the SW coast of Ireland in the 16th century. It was then carried across the Atlantic to the New World, where it found its way upstream along the Amazon to the Andes. It's original title made no sense to its Hispanophone adopters and thus mutated into a title of more local relevance, 'El Condor Pasa'. Meanwhile, it has long since been forgotten in its place of origin.
Since all this happened long before secular music was ever written down in the West of Ireland, I have no means of substantiating my claim. Just trust me on this one.
Name this tune?
