The second tune is called "the Bear Dance". You'll find it in thesession tune db. The first tune is also familar to me, but I cannot recall the name of it.

Here's a link to "the Bear Dance" http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4195
Just remembered the name of the first tune. It's called: "As I Went Out Upon the Ice" http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/7528 A good tune to play in Kiev in the winter ....
I thought it was Dalaigh's: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/7531

But bear in mind that it's "Bear" Dance - not "Bare Dance" ... Dancing bare upon the ice in a Russian winter is not to be recommended ....
You may well be right, Henk Bos. But check out "As I went Out Upon the Ice" - it's remarakbly similar.
Yeah, polkas and names have proven a bad marriage. Even worse than it is for any other type of tunes in ITM
Indeed, Henk! By the way, I've just listen to the clip again - this time right through. There is a third polka as well - or at least, the first couple of bars of it. John Ryans.
Just realised - Kiev is in the Ukraine - not Russia. Sorry about that! But as I recall, the Ukraine was once part of the USSR. Many people used the term "Russia" when really referring to the USSR.
Still cold.
It's not 'As I Went Out Upon the Ice', sorry. Sounds English.

As is Bear Dance (via France in the 16th C. mind you)...
Thank you! Bear dance. Nice name.
Um..... I guess nobody noticed that it says "Dalaigh's Polka / Bear Dance" on the top left of the video, right where the title of the video usually appears.
