Yes that's it! Thanks a lot. The fourth bar of the first bar is a bit diffierent - it doesn't have the huge jump to the Bb (or high C, as I've done it in G) - which is a shame, but it has to be the same tune.
Is there a collection of the great man's tunes available at all?
St Andrews is in the Tunes base - its posted as The Ballyket Courthouse and also as The Clogger's Quilt, which are as far as I can see versions of the same tune.
I've heard the tune this post is asking for an ID for, but the name escapes me for now...
It's Pottinger's Reel, a tune written by Shetland fiddler / composer Tom Anderson and named for Shetland fiddler Willie Pottinger. It's in the Tunes database.
I agree with "kilfarboy". If I've read the "abcs" correctly, this tune was the first of 2 reels recorded by the Sean Ryan trio on "Back Home To The Cliffs Of Moher", an "Outlet" label recording which hasn't been posted here yet. [ Robert Ryan mentioned it recently in another discussion. ]
On the Outlet LP - a sampler - which I have, it's called "St.Andrew's", and the 2nd is called "The Swallow". This 2nd reel is commonly referred to as "St.Andrew's" - I believe the 2 titles have become confused over time. If anyone has Sean Ryan's book of tunes, that would settle it one way or another.

Can someone help with this reel please - no luck on google!
Think it's in G, but could also be F. Also, I don't have a vertical slash on this keyboard...

Apologies if the abc is a bit screwy.

Re: Tune ID
I've seen one volume of Sean Ryan's compositions, called "Hidden Ireland" and I understand there's now a second out.

Re: Tune ID
No, it's not St Andrews Reel, though that's normally played in F too.
