Love!

So, since it's February, and Valentine's Day is this month, I'm asking you all, what are your favorite love songs and tunes?

My personal favorite is "Inion Ni Scannlain"

Re: Love!

I Hold Your Hand In Mine - Tom Lehrer.

I hold your hand in mine, dear,
I press it to your lips,
I take another bite from
Your dainty fingertips:
My joy would be complete, dear,
If you were only here - (??!?),
But still I hold your hand in mine,
As a precious souvenir.

The night you died I cut it off,
I really don't know why,
And every time I kiss it, I
Get bloodstains on my tie;
I'm sorry that I killed you,
Our love was something fine -
But until they come to get me, I will
Hold...your....hand....in....mine !!!!!.....

Re: Love!

Hard to choose.... Could be any one of "Unlucky in Love," "I Buried my Wife and Danced on Her Grave," "Drag her 'round the Road," "Pull the Knife and Stick it Again," "The Broken Pledge," or "The Clumsy Lover."

That was your official posting from Cynics Anonymous.

Re: Love!

Awwww, put that thing away and get over it, kid! Trust me on this, you'll be much happier in the long run...what you need is a dirt bike...

Since you asked, "She had a mouth as big as Galway Bay" (whomever it was that did that one) is my nomination, although "Old Woman of Wexford" is right up there, too.

Another curmudgeon...

Re: Love!

No question. It's "I Used to Love Her" by Guns & Roses.

I clearly opened myself up for all that when posting this... Oh well, though, I needed a laugh! =D

Re: Love!

Black is the Colour.... seriously is anyone here not a victim of unrequited love?

Re: Love!

My two favorite songs (obviously they're not Irish): Beat Of Your Heart by George Martin (sung by Hayley Westenra) & My Heart Will Go On, sung by Celine Dion. I can't pick a favorite I love both songs. :-)

Re: Love!

So many from which to choose ..

Trad:

- The Water is Wide
- As I Walked Out One Midsummer's Morning
- The Seeds of Love
- The White Cockade

... and quite a few old Beatles songs might be contenders, in particular I like:

- She's a Woman
- We Can Work it Out

Re: Love!

"Will you still love me, tomorrow?" by Carole King.

"Who knows where the time goes" Sandy Denny

"First time ever I saw your face" Ewan MacColl.

"A woman's heart" Eleanor McEvoy

Just a few.
