Not quite traditional?

Not quite traditional?

I was at a seesion last week and I saw and heard four people playing skillful and unmistakably traditional sounding Trad but on slightly askew instruments.
They played 5 string banjo, silver Boehm system flute, viola and small four stringed Spanish guitar.
Like I say it all sounded fine, the viola adding a nice darkness to the sound.
Additionally there was a guitar and box player.
It just goes to show how the music can shine through even when played just slightly away from the accepted set up.

Re: Not quite traditional?

The music shines through better when people like you don't come along and start telling us how good it can sound. I couldn't give a flying f$%$ what you heard, when you heard it, or if you ever hear it again. All 4 of those instruments have been used by Irish musicians in the past. Paddy Carty, Tommy Peoples, Steve Cooney, John Carty. WTF? means What the Fuk? And it's probably the best question to ask when a lunatic like krick comes on here with his superior, professing, mouthy sh*te. Merry Christmas.

"evolve as addict", It's Ok! calm down! don't cry! You'll get all the others wailing!
And by the way, we are not all Christians and some of us live in a Xmas Free Zone.

Re: Not quite traditional?

Er, I personally didn't see much wrong with the opening post. Perhaps accepted written as "accepted" would have read better. Unless he's having a tiny dig at the more precious amongst us who believe in rules. And there aren't any of those in our midst, are there? ;-)

Re: Not quite traditional?

Speak for yourself steve, I think rules are vital.

You've gotta know what you're breaking

Re: Not quite traditional?

Right, it's no fun breaking rules if you don't know what they are. :-P

Re: Not quite traditional?

Nice one, Michael. Here's to the shattering of the precious and the serial smashing of rules. Except the one about no bodhrans.

Re: Not quite traditional?

I think the content of Krick's post was worth mentioning on the Mustard Board by any reasonable standard. But how did the silver flute get on with playing reels?!...
