Last Friday's CWATR featured the firdst of a 2 part special on the McPeake Family from Belfast. It is a slightly edited version of a documentary made by UTV in the early 1960's. It brilliantly captures the spirit and committment of this extraordinary family. They -along with others like the Vallelly's and the Armagh Pipers Club-kept the torch of traditional Irish music lit during dark periods in our recent history.
If the second part is anything like the first, it should not be missed. Epic stuff, and well done to Nicolas and the team
Here, here - a great programme on a unique family who kept the beacon of tradition alive and in the public eye before the emergence of the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, the Dubliners, etc. Also looking forward to Part 2.
