Stumbled onto a great recording of Beòlach playing at the Vancouver Celtfest in 2007. They play a set beginning with 'Noon Lasses', followed by a reel in Gmaj and finishing with a reel in Emaj.
Pretty sure the 3rd one is a Cape Breton tune, but can't think of the name. "Steampacket" is the 2nd one, as "pipewatcher" has said. It seems to be undergoing a revival in popularity at the moment - good thing too.
I don't know............ but there is something about that kind od 'jerky style' playing that makes me think that the record is jumping all over the place ???????????
Mairi Rankin of Beolach also recorded this set on her solo album, first hand. As listed on this site, http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/794
She calls the tunes noon lassies, the Mountain Lark and Touching cloth.

Hi all,
Stumbled onto a great recording of Beòlach playing at the Vancouver Celtfest in 2007. They play a set beginning with 'Noon Lasses', followed by a reel in Gmaj and finishing with a reel in Emaj.
Anyone able to identify 'em?
Many thanks!

Re: YouTube Tune ID
Awesome – thanks for that y'all. The third is less important since Emaj is problematic for whistle/pipes

Re: YouTube Tune ID
hilarious! I wonder does the phrase "touching cloth" have the same meaning in the rest of the English-speaking world as here in the US?

Re: YouTube Tune ID
If you read the comments in the section of the tune, i tbink you'll find it does.
p.s. what's more, the composer of Touching Cloth also wrote a tune called Sitting on the Throne ;)
