Youtube Symphony

For all of you who have a classcial background this is a great opportunity:

I wish I had the classcial technique to apply!

Re: Youtube Symphony

I've just taken a look at the score, it's really challenging hmm

Re: Youtube Symphony

Maybe we should take up this idea for an on-line céilí band with a view to competing in Tullamore next year. Bodhrán and shaky egg players need not apply!

Re: Youtube Symphony

An online céilí band, great idea! I'm game for it!
How are you, Brian? Please say hello to the other Dubs!

Re: Youtube Symphony

Thanks Sue. Should be seeing a few of them tonight at the Monkstown session and will pass on your regards. They've also started another great session over in Kiely's, Donnybrook every Thursday night but in any case it's May we're all looking forward to when you bring your bosca cheoil over to the Fleadh Nua in Ennis. Keep up the good work over there in Germany!

Re: Youtube Symphony

I will :-)!
I am still waiting for my new bosca cheoil, a Castagnari Dinn II. It is due this week. I hope it'll arrive on time! See you at the Fleadh Nua!

Re: Youtube Symphony

The score looks challenging all right, I'd need to put in some serious practise to get that up to scratch, my classical violin is a bit rusty. The idea of an online ceilidh band appeals more. I did once have an online collaboration with a fellow in Tasmania who fancied backing one of my button accordion tracks, if anyone is interested the results can be seen here,

Re: Youtube Symphony

without digging in to it further, how do they denote the tempo? If they're trying to put it all together, how are they going to get people to play at the same speed? Do they have a video of the conductor?

That would be one of the problems with a virtual ceili too. I suppose you could start with a single player playing it, and everybody could follow that (in headphones, I suppose)

(Hi Sue! :-) You're going to have to change your name you keep playing other instruments!)

Re: Youtube Symphony

Heh, just watched that video, Cathy. Yeah, I suppose the virtual ceili could be done that way :-)

Re: Youtube Symphony

Reverend, I think the idea with the orchestra is that people submit audition pieces on YouTube and then they pick people to physically go and play the piece in New York. Sounds fun! Might even dust off Harpzilla (the pedal one I own) just for a laugh...but I'm not a classical player so it would be a bit of a fluke if I got in...

Re: Youtube Symphony

Thanks for reminding me why I left classical flute playing and why I love playing Irish flute so much.
