Out in this South Eastern corner of Washington I've gotten the feeling that I am the only soul who pursues an interest in irish folk music. I picked up the flute a year a go and have been teaching myself ever since. Unfortunately I have found the surrounding region to be void of fellow flautists or folk musicians. Does anyone here happen to be fellow locals?
I'm sure they could put you in touch with the local Iroids. Also try Whitman College. I'm sure there's at least a few people there who play something - it's full of bright and creative kids.
Thanks to you both. I've looked over both of these websites and it look as though I'd almost have to show up to specific events to really meet anybody. I actually live in Spokane when I'm not at school in Walla Walla, but if the sessions kinda skimpy I guess there isn't much there for me. But I'll look more into these places you've mentioned. Thanks again.
Send me an email (click on my name at the end of the post) and I'll let you know if there are any decent sessions when you come home to Spokane. If you're around on NY Eve come see The Celtic Nots (me) with An Dochas and the Haran Dancers at the Opera House in Spokane as part of First Night. We'll be there 7-10.
I don't actually go to school at Whitman, I'm over at WWU, but they're just 10 minutes down the road. There is a band that plays for contra-dancing on some weekends and I'm pretty sure I could find some of them that would know more.
If you ever find a good session out there, let me know. I have family out there and go a couple of times a year and would love to have a session to retreat to

Re: Walla Walla Washington
Hey Walla Walla -
I'm in Spokane. There is lots of good Irish music here, but the sessions are not so hot, when they do occur. I'd call the Three Rivers Folk Society:

Re: Walla Walla Washington
Well then! Are you at Whitman already?
Try contacting one of the area's bands - they may be able to tell you where and when the sessions are, and they may even know of one in Walla Walla:
Skweez The Weezle:
