I just wanted to wish all my Yellow Mustard friends a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be grateful for four healthy children; a stable marriage; a house full of instruments and music; and good friends on this site that have given me lots of wonderful information.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
What is this Thanksgiving you speak of?
Being from a country where November generally presents very little in the celebration department (less daylight, worse weather etc.), I am happy to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving right back. I think I will go home after work today and be thankful for all the good things in my life.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Agreed snorre, November is crap in the north. Scotland is bloody freezing and wet just now and the only good thing about November is the session on Thursday, but I'll happy to give thanks to the session god for that.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Fireworks - yes: On New Year's Eve.-
Over here the outdoor drinking season starts again next weekend. We go to the Weihnachtsmarkt for hot glühwein and the like
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
We shall be celebrating in the pub session, SO being a New Yorker ( Oh, you New York girls, can't you dance the polka ? No, she can't. ) AND, she bakes a mean pumpkin pie.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
I'm grateful for a roof over my head, even if the roof isn't my own. And I'm grateful my session is finally growing. Also I'm grateful for my friends. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't bother.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
@RichardB:
Only kidding? How *could* you be?
SARAH PALIN IS............................ CUDDLY...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!aaaaaaaagh!!.....
...............................................wuk? wukwuk? where was I??.......
Oh, yes:
Here, in NE England, the outdoor smoking season continues.
Old hands say that conditions in the wheelie-bin yards of the pub nation cannot possibly be worse than during the past summer, and might well be better: thus encouraged, we may expect to keep the flame alight, and even pass it on to others...
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Today, here in central Arkansas, the weather is warm and sunny but I am unable to go outside to enjoy it because I am at work but that is what happens when you work in a hospital. The patients don't stop being sick just because it is an Official Holiday. Somebody has to be here to help take care of the patients and this time it is my turn to work.
We are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving this evening after I get off from work.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
The fox-hunting season is under way in England. The government banned hunting with hounds - so the fraternity have taken to chasing the foxes with bloody great owls and eagles! They seem to catch them, too.
But the hunting instincts of most of us are catered for by a new rash of TV programmes following police in pursuit of criminals, real or suspected - usually in a helicopter following a 100m.p.h. car chase through suburbs.
It's marginally more watchable than property porn - unless you're an ex-CEO on a golden handshake.
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Hi kuec! Let me enlighten you.
A CEO is a Chief Executive Officer. People at that level, even if their performance has been a disaster, often get a huge bonus when they retire or resign - a so-called "golden handshake".
"Property porn" is programmes on telly about people looking at a string of desirable properties, maybe choosing one in the end to live in / have as a holiday home / rent out to people. It seems to be on one main channel or another pretty well all the time. It can have a weird narcotic effect.
The word "porn" tends to get applied to more or less titillating programmes or coffee-table books about various aspects of the good life - there's "food porn", "garden porn", you name it...
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Nicholas, I suspect you have too much time on your hands during the day. Why don't you watch Sharpe instead - they're re-running the series from the beginning on UKHistory Channel 12 on my digibox ?
Re: Kesh- I have the recording- now I need the dots
Thanks, Nicholas. We have similar things under different names. - I haven't been able to watch British TV for over a decade. From the good old days I remember David Bellamy, Magnus Magnusson, Barry Took and Doctor Snuggles.

Here in Pennsylvania, it starts Monday. Except they call it "deer hunting season".

Sorry Nicholas, you've lost me again - what's a CEO? And I'm not sure about the first part of that sentence either

I thought they called it "beer hunting season" in Pennsylvania, hotsauce. Or is it "beer hunting season" in Upper Michigan?
