Great stuff and, if what mcdevincabe says about it being taken down in a week is correct, then I'd advise all Yellowboarders to tune in immediately. As far as I know the whole programme will be re-screened on TG4 next Friday at 8.00pm.
It may only be a small place but for those few of us who hail from there, thanks John for putting Newtowngore on the map!
Nothing like a bit of self promotion! Nice to see all the
local musicians who frequent Cryans throughout the year being asked to play on this programme. Actually though I only spotted very few who do play regularly as usual on TG4 top musicians imported in for the night!!!
Reverend, they use long skinny floor mounted mics for the instruments and a head set for singers. Sorry I can't be anymore specific than that but I know nothing about mics. MollyB, I hear your concerns about the locals but there were 5 of the regulars involved and there were 2 left out because they were on one of the last programs in the last series and they have a slot in the coming Fleadh program. Another was left out because he's goin to be featured in a coming documentary shortly and two more were left out because they they took part in the filming of the Monaghan Geantrai which has yet to be aired. Forefront are not a gang of scheming biased dictators. They are nice guys with a passion for traditional music, trying to do a very important job. I play in Cryans quite a bit, seems like you make the odd appearance there yourself. We must know each other in the analogue world.
God I really must apologise, just viewed the programme on TG4 archive. Yes lots of locals featured, sitting around listening and as long as I have been going to Cryans I've never seen Tim Collins, Brian McNamara, etc. playing there but maybe they go on another night. As for Lunasa, brilliant, but local, naw, yes they did get a gig as Leitrim musicians but we saw relatively little of them. At least nice to know the Leitrim locals are being imported into Monaghan.

Re: Geantrai YouTube
Good stuff, John. Just out of curiosity, how do they mic the Geantrai sessions? Is it overhead mics, or what?
