Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

OK, brace yourselves. I have FIVE tunes here that I don't know the names of, three reels and two slip jigs. Unfortunately I don't have video links to any of them, so ABCs will have to do. I've done all the searching I can for their names, with no results so far...
Here goes:

So there you go. Now, people of The Session Dot Org, CAN YOU DO IT? Can you, the Internet geeks of the Folk world, Folk geeks of the Internet world, use all your formidable prowess and resources to name all these five tunes? I have tried, and found nothing so far, but I know that there are people among us whose repertoire of tunes, and skill at tune-searching, is something I can only marvel at.

Good luck!

Joe, apparently you missed this thread: http://www.thesession.org/discussions/display/19636

Go here for Rev's terrific search engine: http://abctunesearch.com

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Here's what Rev's tune searcher comes up with:

#1 Shamrock Hill
#2 The Highland
#3 Tripping Up the Stairs
#4 The Grinders
#5 Donald Willie and His Dog

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Flippin eck! That's powerful. It seems I did indeed miss that thread.
OK, thanks Will, and even more, thanks Reverend! Now to submit them...

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

No, they're already here.

Oh, and no guarantee that these are indeed the tunes you're looking for--they're just the closest matches. Look them up here by the names above and you can cross check the abcs (don't forget to check the comments too for other settings) to see whether they are indeed the tunes you're after.

Hmmm...five tunes. Seems like buying a tee shirt off Rev (see the banjo ad on his tune finder site) would only be fair play. ;-)

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

#4 definitely isn't the Grinders. Different tune altogether. But the other four were all here already, and I couldn't find them?! I'm not very good at this, I guess...

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Well, all except #4 were right, I guess, I expect I might be getting a new T-shirt soon then!

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Anyone know #4, then?

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

The 4th one is just about The Rabbit by Kevin O' Neill but with some slight inaccuracies.

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Some slight *differences*, you mean?

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

Wait, #3's not right either, Trippin' Up is a jig, not a reel...

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

No, I don't mean that Joe, the tune is only a couple of years old so they are inaccuracies not differences

Re: Quintuple whammy here, I'm afraid...

#3 is right. It found a reel that was submitted with the name Tripping Up the Stairs (also known as the Merry Sisters of Fate)

Ah good man Joe, that was a bit of work to sit down and write out ABC's for those tunes.
