Would love to hear what ppl think of these tunes

And the way they are played here. Especially would love to hear opinions of box players of both descriptions and ppl who think piano accordions don't suit Irish Trad.

Imo this is lovely playing of these tunes. Came onto them as the Lurgadan was played in a session i was at last week and I was lookin to learn it. I can't stop listenin to it, must need the mellowness! :)

I'm not a box player btw, this has been one of the recent things that has really made me appreciate accordions!

Imo they should another go of the Lurgadan before they go into the Miller's Maggot or go back into it after. Or maybe i 'll just put it on repeat :)

Must admit that this Junior Crehan composed jig (also known as the Lurgadán) is one of my favourites and I've just come from a session where we played it along with another of Junior's compositions, "The Mist Covered Mountain".

Re: Would love to hear what ppl think of these tunes

I checked Comhaltaslive but couldn't find a video clip. I did find the audio at http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/lurgadan_jig_mist_covered_mountain_eddie_moloneys_jig/ where the tune is sandwiched between the Lurgadán and Eddie Moloney's.

As for "fadas", on the Apple I press the "Alt" key along with the letter. On a PC it's the "Altgr" key and the letter. I hope that works for you but if not, I'm sure there are some experts out there who can make other suggestions. Actually I'd love to know how to make a "buailte" or "sébhú" (ie a dot above the consonant) but that's a more difficult one - any ideas?

Re: Would love to hear what ppl think of these tunes

On PC, I use 'ctrl' + 'alt', usually works. For trickier ones, I go in Word and use the insert symbol, I think it's called. Pick what you want and then copy and paste into where you want it to go. Whether it works or not will sometimes depend on the font you're using i.e. you'll get most things to work in standards like Arial and Times Roman but not always in fancy ones.

The Luadrachaun is a two humped Leprauchaun, I think! Best seen late at night after a few pints.

BTW, anyone with an interest in the various spelling and versions of placenames assoc. with Ireland might like to look up http://www.logainm.ie
An Irish government backed idea to standardise Irish and Anglicised spellings of placenames. Not sure I entirely agree with the concept as the variations in spelling are one of those little mirrors that reflect on the diversity of the community. But has interesting info., nonetheless.
