There's a flute that has been appearing regularly on EBay as an Irish Blackwood Flute. The first sentence of the description reads, "This hand made Flute made by our expert flute makers in Ireland to measure to the very highest standards Blackwood.," and there's nothing else in the description disputing that. I PM'ed the seller to ask if the flute was actually made in Ireland, or just tuned in Ireland and made elsewhere. The flute looks exactly like a Pakistani flute and the rest of the description is copied directly from a Pakistani instrument makers' web site. I received a response that there are very few flute makers left in Ireland and to produce it there would be too expensive, so this flute was made in Spain. I'm not really complaining; I got a good laugh out of it. I guess the reason for the post is just to remind people to be careful when buying instruments from a maker that isn't known.
i bought an ''irish blackwood flute'' from ebay about 3 weeks ago. £50 i thought great ... WHAT a bargain. when i got it, i reaslised why it was so cheap. it was poorly made, the holes were not the right size width diameter etc... therefore resulting in a flat and out of tune sound... you're better off going somewhere reputable.
Well..thats my opinion anyway... you never know, you could be lucky
