Maybe this should be in the links section but it's too good to be missed. It explains the differences of the regional fiddle styles (Clare, Sligo and Donegal), and you can learn different tunes in a particular style watching both the fiddler and his hand.
AND it has a virtual session in which you can choose which musicians will be playing.
Awesome stuff.
(If this website was commented before then I'm sorry.)
Looks like an interesting site - unfortuneately i could not seem to get all of it.
I only connected with the start of the page, with no sidebar to "pull down" the rest of the page to get at the goodies.
Can anybody tell me what I am not doing right, for utilising this site?

Many thanks, davydd,
I put away my flint and steel, and my cave bear bones and, with my lovely woman's assistance [she recognizes the existance of the Computer Age ] I can now access the site.
And a fine one it is, for the ornamentally curious like me.
It's interesting to hear and see the same tunes played in different styles, it really shows just what sets each style apart. Very good for instruction too, a beginner could go a long way with those videos.
it's an interesting site, but they really need to work out the navigation.
I'm sorry, but having to adjust my monitor resolution to navigate the site just isn't how things are done.
very pretty site, very clean, but you can't count on super high screen resolution to be able to use it.
I've only been a software engineer working with the Internet since 1994, so maybe I'm wrong here, but you have to give your visitors a chance. That's my philosophy anyway.
I'm at 1152x856 and I can't see the navigation links at the bottom of the page. I had to boost my resolution to 1152x856 just to see that there is probably something down there, but I can't read it. I can just tell that at the bottom of the screen there is something else down there. And when I change the zoom level of my browser, everything displaces to the right, so most of the page goes off screen.
If you were the one who did the layout, then you are dealing with a classic Internet problem: the layout looks fine to you, but doesn't translate to all the different platforms out there on the web.
I'm not bashing, either. This looks like a great resource, but it would be a better resource if the navigation aides were in a more prominent place where they wouldn't be cut off.
an Internet standard is to develop the presentation to an 800x600 screen resolution. I'm just mentioning that to give some perspective. That is the target resolution of alot of the Internet, especially on high traffic sites
that it looks ok in Firefox and not in IE doesn't change anything.
Mind you, I'm not complaining about not being able to figure this out. I've done this for a living since the days of the old wooden Internet.
but if it were my site, I would want a good presentation across all the common platforms and at standard screen resolutions. I would also want to know if people on widely used browsers and common monitor setups had a good presentation or if they had problems.
I love the session thing, especially the way you can add and remove say the guitarist or banjo player to see if the tune sounds with or without. It should solve a lot of typical disagreements here.
the session thing is great, the guitarist has a lovely sound, alot of fun to play along to.
i noticed you can set it to just play the box or banjo or flute, but not just guitar. a bit frustrating as this would be just the accompaniment, and most useful to me.
has anyone found a way to isolate the guitar?
btw, i concur with what other say, use firefox and you will have no problems viewing this.

Re: Resinandbow.com
I had the same problem... I kind of fixed this by setting my screen resolution to the highest setting. Only then did everything fit in.

Re: Resinandbow.com
If you have windows... right click on your desktop and select 'properties'. You can change the resolution under the 'settings tab'

I have no idea about mac tho.

What resolution is needed? I see it perfectly.

Using Firefox, I did have a scrollbar, and it was perfectly usable.

well, it seems you need at least 1280x600

so think of this as constructive feedback
