am going to Bristol in May for a friend's wedding and am looking for festivals around late April/early May (but not the first week of) to go to. What I've found so far is a Fiddlers Fest in the UK, The Shetland Is Fest and Fleadh Nua in Ennis.
I read some previous threads that suggested the Nov tradfest in Ennis is much better; and I remember seeing one in Waterford and a few up the north/Donegal as well. I'd love to hear what your experiences have been in this quiet month! cheers
Lucky you Bel! Ado and all the lads from melbs swear by the Trad fest in Ennis. I never got there for some reason..jobs or some other nonsense - but I wish I had. They have a trad disco that always gets raved about....or slagged off on this board, which puts me in the mind that it must be pretty good.
Pick me to carry all your luggage...Pick me!!!
Hi bb! good to hear from ya! sorry we didn't get to catch up more at portarlington it was difficult. are you going to maldon?
unfortunately it has to be in may. i must go to my bestie's wedding or will get killed and it's been scheduled in the first week of may. so if there are festivals before or after that i'll pop in.
and sorry i didn't get to gundah was celebrating my 30th bday. i hope you had loads of tunage!!!!
Port arlo was a bit difficult - we seemed to be keeping a different schedule. Prob no to Maldon but will be going to some more fests over the summer hopefully - so I'll let you know!

Shetland & orkney
But accommodation for both these festivals fills up early, so best to make up your mind soon and book
