Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

Anyone who didn't manage to get a ticket for tonight's All-Ireland Céilí Bands competition or who may not be at the Fleadh can, hopefully, tune in at 8.00pm tonight to see the whole event. The lads in Tullamore will broadcast proceedings live over at http://fleadh2008.com/LiveCam%20-%20Tullamore. I used the word "hopefully" as you can never be 100% confident with all this hi-tech stuff! Anyhow the big question will be "can the Allow do it again?" or what about the strong challenge from two Sligo bands - Óisian MacDiarmada and the Inisfree have been knocking on the door for a number of years now and then there's a total new outfit from Leinster, Kildare's "Beartla Ó Flatharta " who I've been told are highly impressive. And how could I forget to mention Ceoltóirí na Mainistreach who will be representing the Banner County! Any predictions - my own view is that it's too close to call.

Re: Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

We did it a bit differently this year -- I used a better camera, but could only stream to 100 simultaneous people. This year we're using a more basic webcam, but can handle thousands.

Swings and roundabouts ... :-)

Re: Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

1st - Innisfree Céilí Band, CCÉ, Fred Finn Branch, Sligeach
2nd - Dartry Céilí Band, CCÉ, Fred Finn Branch, Sligeach
3rd - Ceoltóirí na Mainistreach, An Clár

Great result for the Sligo bands winning 1st and 2nd but what happened to the Allow, thought they would be a shoe-in for another 3 and a row

Was anyone at the competition last night. Didnt see it so would appreciate a report

Re: Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

Congratulations to the Innisfree Céilí Band from Sligo (who also include a significant number of Leitrim musicians). I wasn't at the competition but heard them on the gig-rig around 1.00am and they definitely sounded like worthy winners! Glad to see the Clare band weren't too far behind - they've put down a marker for future years and who knows, may eventually follow in the footsteps of the Tulla, Kilfenora and Ennis Céilí Bands.

Re: Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

I was listening to the live streaming on the web. It started off fine but ground to a halt when the Isle of Man band were playing - maybe too many people had logged on ?

Re: Céilí Bands Live from Tullamore

I like to think that's because so many people couldn't be there in person to support us, that they decided to log on to the live streaming instead, therefore grinding the system to a halt. :) However, that means I probably won't be on Youtube as much, which is a good thing.
