Help with a Set

Help with a Set

I want to put the Coleraine Jig (Am) and the Bank of Turf ( D )
in the same set. I need another tune as either the first or a bridge between the two. Any suggestions appreciated.

Maybe something in A Major between the two.

Re: Help with a Set

One possibility would be to start the set with a G-Major tune. For preference, a jig with a similar rhythmic structure - e.g. "The Kesh".

To go with Mix O'Lydian's suggestion, the Bath Star might work well as a first tune in your set, with the last triplet in the second part leading nicely into the first Am triplet of the Coleraine.

Re: Help with a Set

Thanks for those ideas thus far. The kesh works ( at the lilting stage anyway ) for me. The A major idea was one I was toying with already, maybe the Dancing Tables, so its good to to get a bit of a similar idea in that direction. I don't know the Bath Star but I will look it up. I'm doing some draft recordings at the moment and was considering a set of fast jigs to open my 'never to be released' CD. The two tunes I mentioned have an old European dance hall type sound to me so thats what I'm after. Cheers, Slim.

Re: Help with a Set

I always play the Bank of Turf first or in the middle of a set, as I find it is one of those tunes that wants to repeat itself all the time. Try the Bank of Turf....Coleraine and finish with The Cliffs of Moher.
