Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Maybe we should arrange a venue for all 'thesession' musicians to get together at some point over the weekend?

Waddya all think?

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Great idea about a get-together for "the session" players. For anyone who has some time off in the lead up to the Fleadh I'd recommend the Eigse (see http://www.comhaltas.com/education/scoil.htm) which starts the week before. Even if you never enrol for the classes, it's a great week for sessions before the big crowds arrive at the weekend. There's even a possibility that this year the Eigse will include a daytime "Slow Session" during the week. Should this happen, I'll post the details here when available.

Clonmel ???
Great! It's nor far from where I'll be in 3 weeks time (North Cork).
Count on me for the session !!!

Where in North Cork are you from Toni, or is that a too personal question to ask on the internet.

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

My wife and I will be in Clonmel for the Scoil Eigse (set dancing and fiddle respectively). We've booked accomodation but are still waiting to hear from those good people at Comhaltas about registration for the Scoil.

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Not at all Ana. I'll be near Mallow and Fermoy. Will you be around??
BTW. I checked the Comhaltas site looking for info on Scoil Eigse and I saw with amazement that you have to register in order to get a programme. How can I know whether I'm interested or not if I cannot see the programme first.?
Does anyone have a programme and can pass me some info on flute classes??

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Trevor & Toni, I checked on Eigse registration and was told that if you send an e-mail to "enquiries@comhaltas.com", you'll be sent out a registration form which includes full details on the week's activities and the instruments covered in the classes.

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Bannerman, many thanks for that info about registration.
I sent Comhaltas a letter in April asking for registration details, and a reminder in June (when also I mentioned that we'd booked accomodation), but zilch response. I'll send them an email first thing tomorrow.

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

I emailed Comhaltas for the registration documents and received them almost by return as an email attachment. The only thing that now remains to be established is what they require as the UK sterling equivalent of the euro fee, and that will be the subject of my next email to them over the weekend.

Re: Fleadh Cheoil na h

Further to my previous post, I have emailed Comhaltas concerning payment of fees in the sterling equivalent of euros.

Their reply by return was to contact my bank on the morning I intend to mail my application and ask for the sterling equivalent of the euro amount at the exchange rate then current, and make out the cheque in sterling.

Cheques are to be made payable to Comhaltas Ceolt
