Hello, I have recently discovered this device that is provided by Windows for free in its latest version. It works very well. I play the fiddle and it is a great way to pick up tunes by ear at, say, 60% speed, then you can gradually speed it up antil you can play along at the normal pace. Being a beginner, I find it a tricky leap moving from 80% at 100%, particularly at reels. In any case, I strongly reccomend it. Any other ideas on how to use this resource?
I find The Amazing Slow Downer muc more useful. You can slow down or speed up at any increment. You can isolate a phrase. You can change keys. etc. You pay a bit for it but It is a very useful too.
Hah! I didn't know QT could do that until my brother helped me make a video of my fiddle playing that I wanted to share with my wife. He sped it up a little bit and it made me look like I actually knew what I was doing. Of course I saved it at the original speed. Honestly! ;)
Audacity can do the same thing, and has additional editing properties, but I find Quicktime is much faster and simpler to use for slowing down a tune.
I love technology sometimes. If you can't get a fiddler to show you a tune at slower tempo, which is the ideal way to do it, then your computer can. Brilliant.
That's what I do. I found a free FLV to mp3 converter on the web. http://www.flv2mp3.com/
I have made a lot of tunes to slow down on winmedia to learn from the best.
It does any you-tube film with music. You just cut and paste the URL

That's right but the good thing of WMPlayer is that it costs nothing, I tried Chronotron as well but after some time it went dead.
