tonydemarcomusic /at/ gmail /dot/ com
This way the artist gets the sale & you get the music. I believe he's asking $20 which includes s/h & the cd. But don't quote me..
You can email me with any questions
Below is a blurb about the recording.
Thanks
Brad
"Product Description
The Sligo Indians is a long-awaited solo debut for one of America's finest folk fiddlers. A Brooklyn native of mixed Irish and Italian descent, New Yorker Tony DeMarco is a master of the intricate ornamentation, swinging rhythm, and adventurous melodic improvisation that mark the famed County Sligo fiddle style. Mentored by the late Sligo master fiddler Paddy Reynolds, Tony has for decades been a pillar of the Irish session scene in New York City. 54 minutes, 36-page booklet with extensive notes.
With special guests: Eddie Bobe, Kevin Burke, JR Davey, Tom English, Ivan Goff, Natalie Haas, Peter Horan, Charlie Lennon, Seamie O'Dowd, Fionn O'Lochainn, Jerry O'Sullivan, John Patitucci and Seamus Tansey. "
Thanks for posting this, Brad (good to see you now and then, still). That's a great line up. I'd buy the cd just to hear more of Ivan Goff (is he on pipes, flute, or both?). Not to mention Charlie Lennon and Peter Horan.
And Tony himself. (Making note to self not to spend my next $20 on beer....)
William Harmonious - It has been a while, Two old friends who have never met! I met you're old buddy Kevin B for the first time tonight, quite a funny man & of course all the fiddler we all say he is.
I have been on the quiet side due to work & raising young children, my son is showing signs of interest in the diddley so I may be out & about more often.
'solo' debut ? - doesn't sound like that to me. Many a 'solo' recording has been ruined by 'special guests' pervading the CD. Why can't these good musicians have the courage to go it alone, solo fiddle or whatever should mean just that.
This CD is great.... and the calibre of the guests on it surely doesn't ruin it. Tony could easily play alone, it was surely not lack of courage.
I especially loved the tracks with Charlie Lennon, but the whole CD is super....
A long way off and one of many CD release parties I imagine, but Tony will have one 12/6/08 at IAANJ. Looking very much forward to that.... save the date if you are in NJ.
I have this recording, too, and it IS great! And a looonngg time in the making.
There will be a cd release party on May 16 at the Blarney Star Concert, held at the Glucksman Irish House, NYU, Manhattan, NY. www.blarneystar.com
Tony has indicated that there will also be a release at his weekly Thursday night session at Paddy Reilly's in Manhattan, but no date confirmed yet.
I have it on very good authority that there will be a pretty good CD release night up at the Catskills Irish Arts Week as well for Tony has been a significant staffer and fiddle teacher for a number of years.
June 19, Tony will be giving private lessons, teaching a group workshop then joining us for our regular Third Thursday Session at Donegal Square in Bethlehem. Use the side enterance we'll be in Granny McCarthy's Tea Room. Lessons upstairs, session downstairs.
Group lesson 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Session goes 6 -9 PM
Of course Tony's new CD will be available for signing.
