Hi all, just wondering if anybody can recommend somewhere to get a fiddle repaired in London. Have had a quote to get some work done on it but want a second opinion, preferably from somebody with a folk music approach/background. Any help much appreciated.
Michael Shakespeare is good, also Bridgewood and Neitzert in Stoke Newington, Bob Grummitt in Caterham, Healey Violins in Sutton and many others. Again, I have phone nos. if required.
Peter Waters of Waters Violins in Wallingford (OK it's 50 miles west of London) is VERY good.
I thought I had smashed my fiddle irreparably a couple of years ago when it went flying on stage but he repaired it beautifully and, as hard as I try, I can't see where the cracks are (were) and it actually sound better now than it did before.

Re: London fiddle repair
I can't recommend them because I've never used them, I just know they exist as it's near-ish where I live:

Re: London fiddle repair
well you might try Michael Shakespeare in blackheath.his work is very good indeed.
he plays folk fiddle himself and if not too busy would possibly be up for a few tunes with you.
if you can't find him on the net, email me and i'll give you his number.
best wishes,dave
