I mean: I use an abc player that uses soundfonts (.sf2). the quicktime instruments are a library of electronic "instruments" which come standard with macintosh (and, I suppose, with quicktime for windows). you can make your own soundfonts— so, if you have an abc or midi player that uses soundfonts you can have your computer play a tune with the recorded sounds of your own instruments.
there's a nice wheatstone concertina soundfont available online, and it'd be cool if someone made one for uilleann pipes. (there is one in a commercial package, but it's really pricey.)
uilleann pipes quicktime instrument?
uilleann pipes quicktime instrument?
Has anyone made an uilleann pipes Quicktime instrument? The "Bag Pipe" is far too choppy (though "Piccolo" is pretty close).

if anyone's inspired, there's a list of tools on the sf2 wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoundFont
