i do not like steel strings, it makes the fiddle sound like a cazoo. i have used dominants, but i recently switched to evah Pirazi which are amazing

I agree. Steel strings are no good. Evah Pirazzis are the best strings EVER. Well worth the high price. But do you find that they don't last as long as some other types of strings? I've gone through 3 sets in the last year or so.

Oh, and the gold E string? Worth the extra $3 in my opinion. Really cuts down on that metallic, harsh sound
Steel strings are nasty, especially if you've got a metal string adjuster on every string. Just get a kazoo and save the bother!
