All the same I love the tune & wish there was a recording in the Skinner archives. I just hope some will look at the manuscript 1st before answering. I have been pouring over it until I am cross-eyed.

Where did you get "Fast and Furious" TheMuse? There's an instruction in the manuscript which says "Fire and Force".
I see he also says "To John Marshall [crossed out], Violin Maker, Aberdeen. & restorer of Author's Violin"
I'm writing out the bass notes here, in a minute. First a couple of notes:
1 I've 'corrected' the bar lines, partly in order that the parts in the manuscript match up, and partly by reference to the published version in 'The Scottish Violinist', described as a 'Compliation Album' and originally published in 1900.
2 The bass line here is as the manuscript (except as regards bar lines, as noted above). I will shortly transcribe the melody from the manuscript, and then give the version in 'The Scottish Violinist'.
The bass notes are (please read down an octave from where I'm writing them):
Here's the one from the manuscript, with slight adjustment to bar lines (putting a leading note at the start of every section, so a rest at the start of the piece) and with the original slurs. There was an error in the previous trasncription given on the 'Music Theory' thread, in that the ^d' at the start of the second part was given as if it was the first note of the bar, whereas it is the leading note *before* the first whole bar of the second part:
Here's the version from 'The Scottish Violinist'. The only difference (as far as I can tell) from the version given in the tunes section here, is the inclusion of the slurs as were printed in the original edition:
James Scott's note was to play the tune with "Fire and Force"

& it would be dreadful. Except for background music in a car chase.
Skinner's styling is much better!

The chords are Em, D and B (or B7).
It is more often played in A minor - see http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/3718
which makes the chords Am, G and E.
But it is also sometimes played with G-naturals throughout (the Dorian mode), which makes the third chord Em (or G).
