Re: An Irish Blessing is always welcome!

Fun, I've sent it to people who will appreciate it, and to folks that will be irritated by it... Now all I have to do is await the responses... Myself, the basic sentiment is appreciated and we know one person in straights that will welcome the music, words and pictures. At least one other will steam and I expect to get a scathing line of swear words or something caustic in return... ;-)

Re: An Irish Blessing is always welcome!

Can give you the scathing line of swear words and a few more caustic things please?

I kept waiting for a big monty python foot to come down and squash it or something. I'm still astonished that it was straight up. Anyway, leaving all the cod god stuff aside (I don't want to get into a discussion about that) can we talk about that whistle playing?

Personallly, I absolutly hated it. I think it was the vibrato mostly. Hideous.

Re: An Irish Blessing is always welcome!

Did you misspell "absolutely" on purpose? You lost me right after please.

Re: An Irish Blessing is always welcome!

no, I'm just crap at spelling. And the first line should have read: "Can I give you ..."

But what did you think about the whistle playing?

Re: An Irish Blessing is always welcome!

Why ask me? I thought it good enough to share. We must certainly have polarized feelings about styles. Joannie is not just a great ambassador for Irish Trad music, she is also a very nice person, and I love her and "Cherish the Ladies". Check out her contribution to the U-tube video of Kathy Ryan, singing about Irish immigrants, "The Back Door". Joannie is a superb accompanist and doesn't try to upstage anyone. Her roots show, and I'll thank the little Irish Faeries, for all tha'.
