I read an old thread that suggests it's possible to do without a car for the week, is that still the case? I'd really like to attend but as I'm coming from abroad and I'm not quite old enough to rent a car, it'd be important to know if you can still do it without personal transport.
no probs without a car... for the sessions, they're within walking distance; albeit a freezing cold and sometimes wet walk! there is a taxi service there also and i think the festival even might have a minibus organised for the classes which are a fair bit out of,.. erm,.."town"! best thing to do is email someone from their website.. so you can manage without a car, but you'll be much more popular with the young visiting musicians if you do have one!
I'm not sure where you're planning to stay, Nate, but all the classes and all the gigs are at Ionad Cois Locha/The Dunlewey Centre. If you were based at the new Errigal Hostel (http://www.errigalhostel.com), it's only a five-minute walk to all of these.
However, most of the sessions will be back west in Bunbeg, Derrybeg or Crolly and you'd certainly need a lift to get to those.
It's pretty much possible to manage without a car, as Mairtin points out, though I don't recommend getting stuck without a lift on new year's morning...the taxis are few & far between!!! I speak from experience. Anyway see y'all there
I french and i come to the Frankie Kennedy winter school )
I just have a small problem i found a B&B in bunbeg but i didn't want to rent a car :p if i must i do but if anyone stay near bunbeg i 'll be really happy to go on the gig's and session with him ))))
