€17.99 plus €2.75 shipping to the U.S. makes this CD cost more than $30. At least Custy's takes out VAT when you order from outside the EU. I can't tell if this site does.
I just hope they plan to release it on iTunes as well.
Just a small point, but the costs to which mcdevincabe refers relate to a limited edition of 100 signed copies of the album which won't be generally available until January.
So what are you gonna gain by getting it early? Perhaps you could learn the sets off it and get them established in your session before anybody knows you just got them off the latest whatever?
Got mine too, plus a few extra for pressies too for those special friends who'll appreciate this collector's piece.
Agree with Becker it is fresh and simple yet totally brilliant. They seem to be able to let each other play and yet create something totally unique
Have been listening to the new Molloy and Carty album for the past week and find it refreshing to hear good old tunes being played with real heart and spirit.
Matt Molloy is still setting the standards in Flute music after 30 years recording and playing.
As for John Carty he has music flowing through every pore in his body.
This is an honest and heartfelt recording of tunes that both players love to play. I know Matt has recorded some of the tunes before but he has reinterpreted some and quite literally breathed new life into others.
They have managed to capture the spark and spontaneity that can be such an elusive thing in Irish music recordings.
In an era where technology allows us to have the "perfect" recording we can often lose sight of the music itself and get hung up on silly little things that really have no bearing on the actual music.
The decision to record in a live setting was I imagine a tough one but a good one non the less as it brings out the true musicianship in Molloy,Carty and of course McGlynn.

Re: Matt Molloy and John Carty CD
Hmm, you're right. Maybe the final price will be similar to John's older CDs listed on the page.

Re: Matt Molloy and John Carty CD
€18 for a CD would be at the lower end of the price scale in Ireland so probably you shouldn't get your hopes up.

Trust liig to come up with the cynical jibe.
Looks like a good Christmas pressie to me - or, as it's signed, just a nice colletor's piece.
