Hey everyone, I'm doing a smal project on th Bretagne region of France for French class. I thought it would be awesome to play some music but my current collection is predominantly Irish/Scottish/Cape Breton and very little from Brittany itself. Does anyone have any suggestions of artists/albums/tracks or any combination thereof that would be worth buying anyway (and playing in school...of course....haha)?
Thanks!
Since you're a fiddler, you should check out Celtic Fiddle Festival. They have a few Breton tunes. Great stuff. Christian Lemaitre, the Breton fiddler used to be part of Kornog, mentioned above by Brown Creeper. And yes, Jean-Michel Veillon, definitely. A master of the wooden flute.
Could anyone suggest....

Hi I am from brittany, i Often go in festou noz! Speak about it !!
There's lot's of different kind of music.. I Suggest you
- Dan ar braz
- Allan Stivell
- Denez prigent ( gwerz )
- Carre manchot ( trad )
- Tan ban ty ( trad )
- Sonerien du ( trad )
- ... Tud, Karma, ...
There are much more different dances in britanny than in ireland I think...
Some dance as scottish, cercle circassian ( jigs ) are more recent.. ==> influances of other contries are important
Others like gavotte, andro, plinn, laride are older..
