Best All-Ireland Fleadh

Best All-Ireland Fleadh

I have just left Tullamore,it is my opinoin(having been to at least 25)that this was the best Fleadh of all.I have never heard so much music in pubs, competions, and street sessions, great to hear such a variety of instruments pipes, concertina, fiddle, flute accordion melodian, banjo, harp, and the great tradional singers.Just what a Fleadh is all about.
Well done to the organisers, and the town and people of Tullamore.Roll on next year.

Re: Best All-Ireland Fleadh

I won't disagree, but I suppose my favourite venue was Listowel in the seventies, when it was still largely unaffected by commercialism, and the dreaded "celtic tiger",........... and Kilkenny was a super venue, as was Clonmel ( although I felt the use of Marquee style tents for competitions was unfair to mandolinists, who had to struggle against wind noise etc. Enniscorthy was great too, but I will say that any town that gets two in a row, usually is even better the second time, so well done Tullamore, and I hope you get an encore.

Re: Best All-Ireland Fleadh

Have to agree with contributors so far. It had all the positive aspects of Listowel (plenty of hostelries, very welcoming landlords, lots of street sessions) but additionally it had lots of space without being over-sized.

There were other innovations which the local committee added and in particular the mammoth street session on the Friday night which was mighty craic - it mightn't have been the best music in town but what an ice-breaker for the weekend!

Looking forward to 2008.

Re: Best All-Ireland Fleadh

Must add my congratulations to Fleadh Committee in Tullamore. Terrific fleadh. I,ve been going to All Irelands since 1973 and this has to be one of the best yet. Roll on next year.
Again well done to all involved.

Re: Best All-Ireland Fleadh

Just got back from Tullamore. Great Fleadh. Plenty of music, hospitality, and fun. Very well organised. I agree with everyone else about Listowel, Enniscorthy, being great locations also, but it seems to me that the fleadh just gets better, and better, and better.....................well you know?

Re: Best All-Ireland Fleadh

It certainly was great craic. The weather was superb, music great, fantastic variety of sessions around the town, well organised...........

It certainly rates and I have my digs booked for next year already!

BUT - the best fleadh I was at has to be the last Clonmel - what a marvellous weekend that was.

Anyway, deffo looking forward to next year and everything in between!
