Tipple flute?

Tipple flute?

Anyone have a Tipple in low D that they would like to sell? 2 or 3 piece, 6 or 8 hole are all possibilities... I'm a whistle player that wants to try the dark side without a huge outlay of $$$. I was thinking about the Pakistani flutes on eBay, but the recommendations here have convinced me to look elsewhere.

Re: Tipple flute?

Plunk,

You probably know about this, but here is the flute forum on Chiff and Fipple http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewforum.php?f=2

where you can read how great Doug's flute are and how best to avoid the paint can stirrers from Pakistan.

I made my own flute from Doug's plans http://dougsflutes.googlepages.com/makingasimpleirishflute
and you can, too. Mine sounds great, and it cost me $2 in materials and about an hour.

If no one here offers to sell one, you might have success on the Chiffboard.

Re: Tipple flute?

Why not buy one from the maker himself? http://dougsflutes.googlepages.com/

They're a good value. I use one as a "rough travel" flute, but the feel is much like my Hammy blackwood.

Re: Tipple flute?

I'll put in a shameless plug for my flutes as well. Check them out at http://www.theburnfieldcastle.com/flutes .

Good Luck, and I hope you find a flute that suits you!

Sincerely,

Jason

Re: Tipple flute?

Blimey, I was making plastic flutes 25 years ago just for the fun of it, never dreamt that they might be taken seriously and find their way into trad Irish. I gave them all away, Brian the flute got one of them. I made some bamboo ones as well. I wonder where they all are?

Just thought I'd share that with you:-)

Re: Tipple flute?

a tipple was my first flute, that's what got me hooked! Hammy has something he calls a practice flute which is a great value also. Don
