Original Tunes

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some feedback on a handful of tunes that I have written and posted on this site. The tunes can be accessed by finding my history in the members page. The tunes were written from a series of sketches that I have kept over the years. I would like some honest feedback, how to make them better, etc. Thanks in advance,

Re: Original Tunes

You might consider adding these compositions, their names and their links, to your details...

Re: Original Tunes

If you click on my user name and go to the history tab you should be able to access the links. Thanks for giving it a go.

Re: Original Tunes

BE ~ the 'history' only covers the last five contributions by Imnotirish, of those two aren't his compositions and one is a 'no comment', in other words, Imnotirish hasn't yet taken credit for it. So, lazy? ~ at least I made a 'constructive' suggestion, rather than judging another out of ignorance... :-/

Re: Original Tunes

I was really only asking people to play through the tunes and give me some feedback about how to improve them. I have no interest in recording them all.

Re: Original Tunes

Arbo, "Moth in the Lantern" is a good tune. I wouldn't worry about "improving" it--just let variations come out in your playing.

I also like "The Fifth Year." I'd put the key/mode at D Dorian--no sharps or flats in the key signature, so the Fs and Bs are natural. And the Cs of course vary--you've used some tasty accidentals. The second ending for the B part doesn't work for me as well as the first ending, but that's just my stupid personal opinion. :o)

Re: Original Tunes

Chesire,
Thanks for the feedback. The ending on the 5th year is a work in progress. I'll play around with it...

Re: Original Tunes

Check your post... I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done 'collectively'...

You've lucked out that ol' mouser came by and was in a constructive mood, no spraying or hissing and not a deck of cards in sight... His 'opinion' does count for something in my book...

Re: Original Tunes

Imnotirish ~ I'm hoping you have say at least half a dozen, so I can also look at them collectively... Dates would be good too...
Do I ask too much? 8-)

Re: Original Tunes

Ceolachan,

yes. I am working on transcribing one more. When that's posted I should have a half dozen. The Moth and The 5th year are older tunes.
