Brid O Donahue and other concerns

Brid O Donahue and other concerns

In my quest for various tin whistle styles, I encountered the name of Brid O'Donahue and I was wondering if anyone knew where she was from?

Also, I am going to Ireland this summer, and after the Fleadh, am going to Donegal. Does anyone know of some good sessions in the county that I could play at?

I believe you might find her here but I will leave it to herself to let you know. She is from Miltown Malbay in Clare.

www.bridodonohue.com should sort you.

She's not to be found on the session.org by the way.

Re: Brid O Donahue and other concerns

I haven't had a pleasure to meet her in person, but love her relaxed style of playing. On your way to Donegal, you can stay in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, to see whistle player Francis Rasdale playing in a pub. His style is unique and very old-fashioned, different from Brid O'Donoghue though.

Re: Brid O Donahue and other concerns

Brid generally plays in Friel's in Miltown Malbay every Saturday night. She plays with Bernadette McCarthy. But she's generally playing flute in that session. Very relaxed tempo and lovely tunes.
