I've a few crackin tunes here i learnt from an amnesiac mate of mine which i'd like to know the names of. They may well have come from CCE sets, they don't seem particularly obscure anyway. So any help would be appreciated.
I'm told this one is called Lad O'Beirne's, but this site would suggest otherwise;
I have tried the advanced search for all of these tunes with no joy, but i don't want to post them all up as Gan Ainm if anyone knows any names. cheers
The first "hornpipe" is a reel called the Old Torn Petticoat.
The last reel is the Torn Jacket by Connie O'Connell.
The other two are somewhat familiar, but I can't seem to find them. The first reel is a bit like the Dublin Reel. The second hornpipe sounds Scottish to me; maybe it's a strathspey or a highland?
The first tune is indeed Lad O'Beirne's. I remember Kenny posting it a couple of years back http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4967. It's sort of like a reel version of the Geese In The Bog.
The third tune is Jer The Rigger. It's usually played as a sort of barndancey polka type thing. It's not a hornpipe.
The first tune is actually the dublin reel as played by planxty, i just listened to it now and noticed that it follows the torn petticoat in a set,(which makes me feel a bit thick) although it is reported to have been learned from a book under the title lad o'beirnes.
That's brilliant though, thanks very much
Can anyone name any of these tunes?

Re: Can anyone name any of these tunes?
The last one is the Torn Jacket: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/350
It's misnamed, but you can watch and listen to young musicians play it: http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/comhaltaslive_213_3_aine_oconnor_and_colin_mcgill/

Re: Can anyone name any of these tunes?
It's not the Dublin Reel. That's a different tune with a similar first bar.
