ITM and modern dance moves???

ITM and modern dance moves???

I was wondering if anyone else out there has found out how amazing it is to dance robot style to ITM?? Can other dance forms and moves go hand in hand with ITM? any comments?

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

I've never done it before myself, and, indeed, never will. I've heard about it before though. I heard that the people who do it make a complete fool of themselves on stage in front of their girlfriends who are quietly dying of embarrassment in the corner, and then, as if that wasn't punishment enough, they go and boast about their achievements online to the whole world :-)

I would think it looked much embarrassing than that.

This is sounding even worse than I thought at first.
Ask Jeremy to delete this thread if possible.

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

I have this vision of being on stage with Colin Mcleod playing fiddle and dancing at the same time with Tom next to him clutching the fiddle doing the robot moves.
No I dont dance!

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

Tom, you should come and dance the robot at the Chewton trad. Disco next year! You'd fit right in!

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

When did this happen Tom?
Was it the sunday night session?

Haha, of all the dance 'styles' the robot would be the most unusual :)

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

All we want now is for someone in Japan to make a robot that can step-dance reasonably convincingly to The Boys Of Blue Hill (played slow). Technically, it should be possible.
The big problem would be matching the wig and costume :-)

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

I LOVE IT!

Give me a holler when you bust the cardboard out. I still remember some breakdancing moves from the 1980's.

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

What about that new ‘expressive dance’ thing? You know the one where you flounce around like a pillock just moving erratically to the music.
I do it nearly every weekend at the end of the session after copious amounts of genius!!!
It really works :-P

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

Well yes, I suppose a pillock would flounce around and move erratically ;-)

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

the only dance move i do is a sort of loping reggae skank.
it involves me making window cleaning motions with my hands, and shuffling my feet on every other beat.

i speed it up or down depending on the tempo of the music.
it works for all genres.

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

They always think they're so cute when dancing like that.

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

Is there any particular type of tune (jig, reel, hornpipe, etc) that is more conducive to "the robot"?

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

We'll, er, take that into considderation, and, um, in the fullness of time, with all things being equal and the shoe snuggly on the other foot, agree to firmly commit to the placement of said idea, in all fairness, on a backberner of our choosing, the removal of which shall be at a pre-arranged time aggreeable to all parties and taking into acount seasonally adjusted pre-sale exit polling of our key A-B demographics.

(or for the fiddle playing queenslanders in the crowd:
Trouble good, dancing robot bad...

Remember, SirNose says: "ONLY I MAY DANCE!!!")

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

i really cut Sir Nose, I thought we had a connection, i mean dancing is everything to me, i dont know what id do without it, its my whole being!! well if you dont want me to be your dancer for your band, i might just approach solas or even dervish, maybe they will appreciate my talent!!!! :)

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

I reckon Dervish could use you, Tombo, next time they enter Eurovision. All things being equal, in the fullness of time, with the shoe firmly on the other Sir Nose, they're destined to become RoboDervish anyway.

Look, what's the big deal? Two guys go out one night, they hear a band, they feel that unshakeable trouble groove pulsing through their far-too-white-sneakers... they exchange a shy glance, a bashful smirk, the knowledge that although they are passengers on a kayak on the swollen river of masterfully played trad music, they are not alone. And like the members of a step-aerobics class participating in a trust exercise, they quietly take each others' hands, walk out on the dance floor, and get a whole lot of rhythm goin on.

The limbs are flying! Was that a synchronised swing-flick? No! It was spontaneous! The moves come quick and fast, too fast for the stunned and red-cheeked audience to interpret as body parts are flung in all directions, snapping back to impossible poses. They shimmy, they strut, they booty-shake and they Elvis-pelvis. It goes on for what was probably two minutes, and seemed like at least three and a half. And then... then... the unstoppable energy of this dynamo pair becomes focused on the one man in the band who can't afford to smile... the flute player.

Things start to fall apart. Note by note, the flute player is losing it, sweating, looking desperate. Suddenly the night just doesn't seem like fun any more. People start to back out the door of the pub, a girl with long hair tries to hide herself behind a railing as her friends begin to recognise the figures on the dancefloor , who are now moving so fast that they resemble an enormous hairball in a lotto machine. Then, just when it seems that the pub is on the verge of total evacuation, they stop.

The band keeps playing. The two figures on the dance floor double over laughing, straighten up, and high-five. They look around nodding, grinning, expecting cheers and free beers from the bar, but the bar staff have left, and the only people left in the place are the cowering girlfriend and two of her friends, leaning over her, consoling her.

Who were those two jerks anyway? And who let them in?

.

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

NICE!!! Thanks Katiebee:) I think you trying to say is that i should stick to the fiddle playing??!

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

I didn't mean nothin' by it, Tombo. You guys rocked. What I'm trying to say is that you should play fiddle AND do robomoves at the same time! I reckon you'd open up some kind of time/space vortex. xx

Re: ITM and modern dance moves???

... and where did all this take place, pray tell? All the session.orgers coulddu jumped on aeroplanes to come and witness the mayhem, the flute player laughin into his flute, the pub emptyin and the gig in ruin round the cracked up band. Hilarious story - lol - tombo, you're a wicked wicked bushwacker from the west - no wonder Sir Nose has it in fer ya. Ho ho ho ho. Love it!
