So it's a rainy Sunday & the battery in my metronome has bit the dust. I've been playing reels all day with my Garageband loops, which are hilarious -- from Club & 80's beats to Latin or Jazz. So I want to try some jigs, but I can't seem to configure any loops to get 3/4. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Start a new project and select 6/8 as the time signature.
There's only a couple of loops in 6/8 as Garageband ships, though.
And you could spend hours searching the web for new ones - or record your own. It's a great bit of software for wasting hours!
Damn! No, I'm not getting any pre-packaged loops a'tall for 6/8.... Any suggestions about where to search? Like I can download some? I am too lazy to create my own--- I need a virtual bodhran player, I guess. Meantime, I guess it's mostly academic b/c tomorrow I'll go out & buy a 9-volt battery.... Second, well Ben, I wouldn't have got the nursetv gig if it hadn't been for the generous support of the folks on here who helped vote me on. That being said, if you are single, I suppose we can start the matrimonial process whenever you are ready. Thirdly, yes, I have had the incredible luck of being born into a musically diverse & talented family, all due to my grandparents -- here is my grandfather's obituary, who passed away a few weeks ago. Although all of his children & grandchildren have had various musical successes, the one you might be most familiar is Eliot Grasso, who flew back from Ireland to be with us at the funeral.
The easiest thing to do is to grab a 4/4 loop you like the sound of. Then hover over the top right hand corner of the loop, the cursor will turn "curly" click and drag and shorten the loop by one beat. Then you a one bar of 3/4. Then use copy and paste, copy and paste, etc etc you then have a 3/4 beat. It's a pain to do it that way as you then can't extend the loop, you have to copy and paste it, but it works and you have 3/4. You then need to do the same thing with all the loops that you choose to use for that track. Then we all need to e-mail the kind people at GarageBand and pester them until they make some 3/4 loops!!!
