Orkney Slow Air

Orkney Slow Air

I just found this tune posted with almost no details.
Does anyone recognize it - possibly under a different title?

Re: Orkney Slow Air

I found one posting for 'Orkney' on Shoreside by the Gordon Gunn Band.

Re: Orkney Slow Air

This is definately the same song, it's shudderingly beautiful.

Re: Orkney Slow Air

Orkney was written by Gordon Gunn. It is usually played in 3/4. as a slow waltz. I have heard Gordon and his band a few times but haven't actually heard them play this.

A very good setting of it (probably Gordon's) was published in 1991 in Ceol na Fidhle Volume 4 (!SBN 1 87931 70 3)

Re: Orkney Slow Air

Thanks kris I will have to get Gordon Gunn's recording. I thought it might be played in waltz time. I have obviously played it before since I have that book (somewhere).
