Banjo Lessons

Banjo Lessons

After hacking away for the last two years from cd's and a book, I am now looking for someone patient to give me some lessons on tenor banjo (irish tuning) preferably in South London area, Thanks Andy.

Re: Banjo Lessons

Mick O'Connor - I suspect you can contact him through Mick Bailey (on this site). If not I might have his number somewhere.

Re: Banjo Lessons

Thanks all for the reply's. Hammersmith Irish Centre tells me that Brendan gives group lessons which is not really what i'm looking for at the moment. Mick O'Connor (if i manage to get in contact with him) seems like the way to go even if Kilburn is a bit of a trek from the Sutton area. Andy

Re: Banjo Lessons

Mick lives in Kilburn, but I thought he taught in Camden. Anyway both are light years from Sutton. I see there are contact details for him on the Wraggle Taggle site.

Re: Banjo Lessons

I think Kevin Boyle and Liam Farrell (both ex Le Cheile) are South London based. I don't know if either gives lessons.

Re: Banjo Lessons

Cheers for the info lads. I spoke to Liam Farrell recently at a Le Cheile reunion gig in Hammersmith Irish Centre (minus a few original members) but he does'nt give lessons. I never heard of this Kevin Boyle chap but i will make a few inquiries. Thanks again Andy.

Re: Banjo Lessons

If you e-mail me, I'll give you Gerry Diver's contact details. He is a very experienced teacher who teaches privately in the Tooting area, which might be convenient for you. He is a multi-instrumentalist, which includes being a great tenor banjo player.

Good luck with it.

Re: Banjo Lessons

I think i've got it sorted now. I have been put in touch with a chap in the Croydon area who is willing to help me out if he can, and even better he does'nt want paying, decent or what? Andy.
