I've recently begun to listen via the Internet to "The Late Session", presented by Aine Hensey on RTE. It's a wonderful show and a good way to keep up with what's happening in Irish traditional music. For example, I heard there of Paddy Tunney's death, with an interview with him and some of his songs. Does anyone else have suggestions for radio shows of this type available on the Web?

I would also recommend radio na gaeltachta (http://www.rnag.ie/). I always try to listen to it as much as possible in the car. My irish isn't great but it helps to listen to rnag. If you can't understand it, the music is always good anyway. They have a realplayer stream for anyone outside of Ireland (with broadband of course!).
Being somewhat technologically ill-equipped, I am limited to receiving radio by means of a dedicated *radio receiver*. I am struck, however, by the almost complete lack of Irish traditional music on the radio in England. There is a weekly folk music program on BBC Radio 2, which covers the whole spectrum of folk and trad. music in the UK, leaving not much space for Irish music. In London, of all places, you'd think there'd be enough demand for a dedicated Irish music station, but as far as I am aware, ther is just a one-hour weekly Irish spot on Spectrum Radio, the 'community' radio station, which covers all things Irish, not merely music.
When I was studying in the Midlands, I could pick up an intermittent signal from BBC Scotland, which boasts, among other traditional music programs, the wonderful 'Pipeline' - 45 minutes of wall-to-wall bagpipe music. But London is well out of it's range.
I remember it being practically impossible to pick up Irish radio stations when I was living in London. I spent some time in north Lancashire where there was very good reception of RTE Radio 1 all day long all year round.
Here in the north of Spain I can pick up RTE Radio 1 quite well at night in autumn and winter and often listen to Ceili House on Saturday nights.
Itīs a pity, Dave, that you are, as you say, technologically ill-equipped because itīs so much better listening to these stations on the Internet.
Clare FM is a great station as Bernie said earlier in this thread. I usually listen to a friend of mine, Pat Costello, on Friday evenings.
Sometimes the sound just cuts out but I think that has something to do with the kilobytes, telephone lines or my local server. Iīll have to solve the problem at this end.

There is a section of this site called "Links". It is, as the name suggests, a place to post and find links.
There is an entire section there devoted to Internet Radio stations that play Irish music.

Check out 'Ceili House' on R.T.E. Radio 1 too. It is broadcast live every Saturday night from 9-10 p.m.
