twin fiddle tune notation for waltzes and airs?

twin fiddle tune notation for waltzes and airs?

I'm told Irish tunes usually don't have accompanied harmonies (but Im sure there must be exceptions!!!!). I was looking for the harmonies to Shee beg Shee mohr, Inisheer, etc...Anyone know where I can find them? I've tried TwinFiddle software and it just doesn't cut it, perhaps someone has posted a tune here and I coudn't find it............or maybe they will post it now??:)
Cheers

There is not much of a tradition of polyphony in Irish Traditional music, unless you count doubling up at the octave, as is sometimes heard in Donegal fiddling, or the interplay of drones, regulators and chanter on the uillean pipes. It is highly likely that somebody has published some two-part arrangements of O'Carolan tunes - there are certainly guitar and piano arrangements in existence. But you might do just as well to try writing your own second parts, or setting a friend the task of doing it.

As luck would have it, I've just knocked up a harmony part for S

Re: twin fiddle tune notation for waltzes and airs?

I've just posted a twin fiddle version of "Battle of Yellow Ford" that our band uses. It's a reel rather than an air or waltz, but the high harmony definitely makes it a much more interesting tune, and I think it adds to the Celtic sound, rather than detracting from it.

Fiddlers Philharmonic has tunes in solo keys and then again with harmony and backup. Si Bheag Si Mhor is one of the tunes. I've just ordered the book and CD (sold separately) along with the 2nd volume from Sheetmusicplus.
