I hoped to get some good info on beginner friendly / tolerant sessions in Dublin (city centre and suburbs) as well as Galway (Loughrea area). I will be in Dublin from Oct. 19-23 and then in Galway from Oct. 24-31.
I play flute. As beginners go, I'm pretty well behaved. I only play what I know and only when I'm asked.
Hi, I know some beginner sessions in Galway city, although it is not what you were asking(Loghrea area), I give you the info just in case you have the chance to go there too.
Every two Saturdays in The Crane, SeaRd, around 16h,upstairs.
Every Tuesday in Strano, SeaRd/Henry St, at 10h, upstairs.
The best one is in the Crane, lead by Mick Crehan.
Maybe it is not what you were asking for, but who knows, you might go there just for the craic.

I regularly attend the session in Strano bar on Tuesday nights. It is very laid back and anything goes.It is a great place to learn and try out new tunes. We don't get too many flute players (mainly fiddles and mandolins) so you would be very welcome to join us if you are around the area.
