Hey my dad has a traditional music radio show; new tradition hosted in Hong Kong on the local english speaking station RTHK Radio 3 (bit of advertising there hehe sorry!) and he is always complaining that he is running out of ideas for shows seeing as he's produced over 1000 shows now its starting to get a bit tiresome.
Anyway, was wondering if anyone here had any ideas for a theme for a folk music show? If its good I may tell him and he may use it... Technically it wouldn't just be ITM, STM, etc. its also a bit fo bluegrass, english trad, blues and country. Anyway thought it might be fun to see what people thought of.
Cheers everyone!
P.S. If you want to listen to his show the station archives them for online listening (its good):
This might be interesting for your dad to research...
There is a lot of information about Missouri folksongs and tunes available on the net. I've given some links to get you started.
There is a link to an article about Francis O'Neil teaching school for a time in Missouri before moving to Chicago and becoming chief of police and producing his Irish music collections. There might be some old time Missouri music connections to the O'Neil collections, since he wrote about attending local dances and listening to the fiddlers tunes.
